The High Dam - Aswan High Damn - What to See in Egypt - Egypt Travel - History of Egypt

The High Dam, also known as the Aswan High Dam, is an embankment dam built across the River Nile in Aswan, Egypt. The dam was constructed to have the ability to better control flooding, provide increased water storage for irrigation and generate hydroelectricity which put the dam at the forefront Egypt's planned industrialisation. The River Nile would have frequently occurring floods which at times were beneficial as the water would bring rich nutrients to crops in the Nile Valley but the flooding could also destroy crops and also cause droughts. This was supported by the construction of the dam. Make sure to hit the like button if you enjoyed the video and subscribe for more travel videos. We are Connolly Cove.
