It is a popular spot for leisure. You can go on walking trails and take in the view of Cavehill and black mountain. A place for all the family, especially the younger kids. The Belfast Waterworks is a great spot for a family day out. The Waterworks includes a sports facility, a community garden and two children's playgrounds. The site was originally proposed to be used for water based activities. Since the Waterworks initial development, one of the ponds was stocked with trout for the local angling club and man made islands have been installed to promote the breeding of waterfowl. All in all the Waterworks provides a nice family getaway for the day with various walking trail routes, space for the kids to play and get close to nature despite the buzz of Belfast city in the background.
