Here are some facts about the history of El Moez Street: - El Moez (Li Din Allah Al Fatimi) Street is one of the oldest streets in Cairo. - It’s located between 2 gates, Bab El Futuh (North) and Bab Zuweila (South). - It dates back to the Fatimids who conquered Egypt in 969 CE, - and laid out the street as at the very beginning of Cairo's foundation. - It’s approximately 1 kilometers long of medieval Islamic architectural treasures. - It contains monuments from different Islamic dynasties such as: - Fatimid, Ayyubid, Mamluk, Ottomon and all the way to Muhammed Ali’s era. - In addition to the outstanding monuments, there’s also Khan Al Khalili bazar - which is the home to many Egyptian artists and craftsmen, - who produce and sell authentic and traditional crafts and souvenirs.
